Start date: September 2024

The leadership of Telford Priory School is looking for an inspirational leader who can make a real difference to the life chances of our young people at the academy.

Telford Priory School is a vibrant and forward-thinking academy for students from 11 – 16 years of age, located in Telford. The school became a proud member of the Learning Community Trust in March 2024. Our modern, newly designed academy was built as part of the building schools for the future and has the most amazing facilties to support learning and our superb enrichment programmes.

As the new Principal, I bought into the vision and ambition that the Learning Community Trust outlined. Both the LCT and of course, myself, have the highest of ambitions for the academy and want to build on the solid foundations laid over recent years. The Trust is providing a platform for change by investing significant finances into the remodelling of the building and to expand the staffing body in order to push TPS to be the best secondary school in the area.

As part of this drive, the trust is determined to make TPS the very heart of its community. Through this community approach we know that our parents, students and staff will work tirelessly to move our outcomes and more importantly, our students school lived experience into an outstanding provision. In order to achieve this, the Trust will promote the same features that have brought such positives across its body of schools, with a culture of success in creating young adults that are well respected within our society.

We are looking for the new Deputy Headteacher to drive whole school standards. The key element of that role will be to ensure that the school environment supports teachers in delivering outstanding lessons that lead to the success of our students.

We know, through our existing staff and now with the support of the Learning Community Trust, that we will create an academy where our pastoral support and standards of behaviour are first class. This determination to provide the best for our young people will be driven by all, however, the new Deputy who will lead a large team of talented and passionate staff to ensure that the culture is in place for every child, regardless of barriers, to leave their academy having achieved their full potential.

We are offering an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to work within an academy that is on a rapid journey to success, a road where driving change will have no restrictions. TPS is an academy that cares for everyone within its community and the journey will ensure that success in various guises will become the norm. As a result, this appointment is an integral role to our academy development. It is therefore important to us that the candidate is experienced, strategic, and that they can motivate and lead both staff and students whilst being able to hold a high bar for all.

We know that this is a truly exciting opportunity that will lead to personal development and a lead into future headship.

Please provide a covering letter (Maximum of two sides of A4 paper) with your application outlining your expertise and vision for Behaviour and Standards in our forward thinking school.

Completed applications should be sent to tps.hr@taw.org.uk by 9am on 13th May 2024. Shortlisting will take place the week commencing 13th May 2024 and successful applicants will be invited to interview within this week. Interviews will take place W/C 20th May 2024.

I would love for potential candidates to come and meet with myself and representatives from the trust so that we can outline our vision for the academy. Please contact tps.hr@taw.org.uk should you wish to arrange a visit or speak with myself for further details. We look forward to meeting you to discuss the role further.
