Frequently asked question

How long should my child be revising for?

  • They should be spending 2-3 hours per night as well as weekends revising. It will not be enough to try to cram revision the week before.

Can my child re-sit mock exams if they are absent for any reason?

  • Mock exams mirror the exact workings of final examinations and are conducted under external invigilators. In the event of a serious or urgent medical issue (where medical evidence can be provided) we work with parents and child to complete mock exams as appropriate. If students are absent for mock exams, it will be treated in the same way as the final exams - students will not receive a grade.

Can I book a non-urgent medical appointment for my child during the mock exams?

  • All non-urgent medical appointments should be booked outside of the school day as normal. If students are absent for mock exams for this reason, students will not receive a grade and will be unable to re-sit.

When will my child’s last exam be?

  • The exam timetables will be released to students in 2024. Each child’s final date may be different depending on the subjects they study,
  • The final possible date for all GCSE is 26 June. This has been set as a contingency date by the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) in the event of national or significant disruption in the UK. Students are expected to be available on this date.

Key Revision Resources

For all subjects, try these free sites:

And remember that CGP revision books are available at cost price on parent pay. Once paid students can collect their guide from student reception.

With online resources there is a tendency for students to be passive. They watch and think that the information will be remembered. The best tip is

Watch first

Write down what you have learnt

Watch again to check

Many also have quizzes to check your knowledge.

Check out the curriculum pages on this website also for more subject specific revision tips!
