‘Students value the creation of a safe and supportive environment in which people listen and do not ridicule each other. This environment is underpinned by a classroom culture in which every student feels what that what they have to say matters’ – Voice 21

Our vision at TPS is to create well-rounded and articulate global citizens who are prepared for all aspects of life. An integral part of this development focuses on explicitly teaching our students communication skills. Oracy is a vital part of lessons at TPS across the curriculum and is something that all our students are immersed in every day.

Our teaching staff set clear expectations for structured talk in our classrooms, which allows all students to find their voice and share their ideas and opinions in a positive and respectful environment.

As part of our continued development of communication skills, we have included some tips for how you, as parents and carers, can also support your child at home and encourage their journey towards excellent oracy.
