TPS Hero Award
The Telford Priory School, part of the Community Academies Trust, in Wrockwardine Wood, Telford has recognised two students for its 'TPS Hero Award' this year. The award, which is given in memory of Khaleel, a student at the school who sadly passed away, is normally given as part of the school's final award ceremony in July. Due to COVID 19, the award can't be purchased and engraved, so the students have been awarded with a £30 gift voucher each instead. This year, two students have been recognised: Luke H, who has his own film production organisation, and was also partly responsible for the 'I'm Still Standing' video being shared with Sir Elton John! Luke has been nominated for many awards including 'The Shropshire High Sherriff Award' and 'Film the House', a parliamentary-based film and scriptwriting competition for student and independent filmmakers.
Josh B received his award because of the resilience he showed in returning to school after losing his eye in a tragic accident. Josh showed perseverance in continuing to work towards his aspirations and passions as a talented footballer, despite the fact that things have not been easy and that his path for the future has needed to adapt. Where others may have buckled under the immense pressure, Josh instead showed the true TPS spirit and persevered, continuing to focus on achieving success within his chosen field. For this determination; he is a true inspiration to others.
